We Wii Didn't I say? I managed to hunt down a Wii a few weeks back. It was a real mission to find one for sale in this area, so it's a real relief to have one of my very own!
The funny thing is I've played more Wii Sports with my girlfriend than I have Zelda: Twilight Princess. I really didn't think I'd be playing the 'free' game more than Miyamoto's latest masterpiece... but that's what was happened.
Nintendo has done something very clever with the Wii (and the DS) they've focused on making games fun. They know that games aren't about pressing buttons, mastering specials moves or super-juicy eye candy it's about having a good time, however that's achieved.
It's strange that games simulate shooting a gun by letting you move a mouse or joystick. Wouldn't it be more fun aiming that gun with your actual hands? If you were actually running about, diving behind cover and actually fully immersed in the environment? I wonder once we can simulate those experiences is anyone going to want to twiddle a joystick instead of actually doing it?
Strip Editor
The new comics continue as the Strip Editor proves the technology investment by making it very straightforwards to create new comics.
I've created a page that explains how the system works as well as give a guide through the various features and a few screenshots I took over the development of the system. Looking back now I wish I'd taken some pictures as I was developing it, but at the time I was more interested in getting the thing finished!
I'm hoping to release the source code for this system so that other people can build on my work and we can create the YouTube of comics! I've not seen anything like this system anywhere else on the internet, so I think I've created something really new and interesting here. I wonder where this will go :)
